This is an Omano Stereo scope. They sell this brand on Amazon and Microscope.com. Without the zoom range I think it is this one: http://www.microscope.com/omano-om4713-dual-power-stereo-microscope.html?category=210
You should be able to get an idea of what was paid by selecting the options you have. Starts at 259.00 new.
Hope that helps. I don't know a lot about the biological scopes. I am a mineral collector so I focus on the Stereo microscopes.

That helps. I don't know what the options mean though, lol. I'm not a biologist or metallurgist. I might just put it up for auction and see what happens. This was one he wasn't using currently and I am not sure why.
I don't see a camera attached so new the scope was probably around 259.00 If you were going to list on Ebay as long as the optics are clear I would start it at 150.00 as an auction to start. You might want to take some water with light detergent and clean the base of the scope. Just don't touch any glass surfaces. Dust and scopes do not mix. If on Ebay the dust might turn some people off. Not trying to be critical just trying to help.

As far as I know this microscope works. I'll try the light source and all that before listing it. It's quite dusty as he had it sitting in his shop area and even though it had a vinyl cover over it the dust in there has a way of permeating everything.

Dust is a scopes worst enemy. Combine that with a moist environment and it is just deadly. I would look down the eyepiece and just make sure there is no internal dust. They eyepiece from the picture looked fine. Looked like dust was just around the base of the scope.

ReplyDeleteThat's what it looks like to me also. I'm going to get a can of air and blow it off, then check the eye pieces and the light.
